SHAYNA PAYNE HAS RA (early pages)

These pages are among my first forays into drawing comics. I was inspired by a book  called Angry Little Girls by Lela Le that I saw at Barnes & Noble immediately after an enraging visit with my (so-called) integrative doctor, who had advised me to "get over yourself, Donna" and learn to accept a life of sub-par health because of my chronic illness. This led to the birth of my character, Shayna Payne, Knife-Wielding Jewess. These early pages chronicle a healthcare system that doesn't support patients, along with some of the confusing and frustrating experiences of living with autoimmunity. The (so-called) integrative doctor is not featured here, but needless to say, I never went back to him again.
